Echo Park Lake

This past week, the Echo Park Lake reopened after being closed for 2 years for renovations and clean-up. I am so excited and have already been there several times!  You will see a mix of cultures from around the community riding bikes, walking dogs, playing croquet and painting.  It is my new favorite spot for a afternoon picnic, a walk or just to sit and read a book on a bench lakeside.

Casual {yet Fancy} Fridays

Some days you get up and decide you will not even touch your hair, but put on lipstick, you throw on the most comfortable outfit you can stand walking around a city in and you have the best day.  Yesterday, my husband and I spent our morning off together walking to our favorite coffee spot, visiting DRKRM to see the Ansel Adams exhibit and enjoying lunch at Spitz before he headed off to work.  Sticking with the theme of casual {yet fancy}, we spent our Friday night eating a quick dinner at Sage (get the Soul Bowl...trust me) and staying in with crafted cocktails and a movie.  It was indeed a great day.

Downtown Navy&Brown

Happy Monday!  We still are not completely settled in our place, including having no internet yet which means no browsing or Netflix.  However, we have found other ways to stay entertained, including going on the roof every chance we get to relax, read, enjoy a drink or take some pictures. We had quite a few friends over this weekend which made it extra fun!  The weather also started cooling down a bit so it is somewhat starting to feel like winter in LA. ;)

New Year, New Place, New Decor

So this weekend from Thursday-Sunday was spent moving, cleaning, unpacking and donating. Yes, with it being the first week of January still and moving into a new place (a loft nonetheless) I have decided it is time to redecorate and donate anything we don't use/wear.  At least we get to start fresh and this space by CB2 is our inspiration...I will keep you updated and post as we move along.  Since we never had a housewarming party at our last place, I think within the next two months---we will!

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

So yesterday we spent the entire day and well into the wee hours moving. We are exhausted!!! Thankfully a friend helped for a bit and my little brother came and stuck it out until we were finished. I am so excited about our new neighborhood and everyone so far has been super friendly and welcoming! I can't wait until we are able to decorate and make it our home! Here are some pictures of the neighborhood!

Ace Hotel-LA

The rumors have officially been confirmed. The Ace Hotel will be opening a location in DTLA in the United Artists building on Broadway. The Spanish-Gothic style building opened in 1927 and is part of the Historic Core in downtown. They are planning on renovating the theater in the building and reopening it. The Ace is known for creating boutique hotels in hot spots starting with Seattle, then Portland, Manhattan and Palm Springs and now...Los Angeles!

Handsome Coffee Roasters

There is a new coffee shop in LA and now one of my favorite stops on weekday mornings.  Handsome Coffee is opening later this month in the Arts District in Downtown LA.  While it is not officially open yet, they brew espresso drinks     M-F 7:30-12 as a preview of what is to come.  You enter through the back way in the alley and they have an old car bench seat (couch) and other fun decor.  Their barista Jesse pulled me a shot of their espresso blend (which is not at all bitter), made me a great cappuccino, and the best macchiato I have had.  Handsome was founded last year by World Barista Champion Michael Phillips, Tyler Wells and Chris Owens--all of whom left Intelligentsia to pursue their own ideal of roasting and brewing.  Stop in, say hello and enjoy a great coffee experience.
